Intended Use: Recommended for the enrichment of Candida albicans and other fungi from pharmaceutical, clinical, and cosmetic products, in accordance with harmonized methodologies of pharmacopoeias like USP, EP, BP, and JP.
Composition: The medium provides a nutritious base with a high dextrose concentration to support luxuriant fungal growth.
Peptone, special (source of nitrogen, vitamins, etc.): 10.000 g/L
Dextrose (Glucose, energy source): 20.000 g/L
Physical Appearance: It is a cream to yellow homogeneous free-flowing powder in its dehydrated form, which yields a light amber-coloured clear solution when prepared.
Preparation: Typically prepared by suspending 30.0 grams of the powder in 1000 ml of purified/distilled water and sterilizing by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes.
Storage: The dehydrated medium should be stored between 10-30°C in a tightly closed container.
Quality Control: The medium is tested for growth promotion using specific control strains like Candida albicans and Aspergillus brasiliensis (formerly A. niger), with luxuriant growth expected within a few days of incubation.
