Amoxyclav/Augmentin (Amoxicillin/Clavulanic acid) Antibiotic Sensitivity Discs are used in clinical microbiology for in vitro susceptibility testing.
Product Specifications
• Composition: Each disc is impregnated with a total of 30 mcg of the drug combination, consisting of 20 mcg Amoxicillin and 10 mcg Clavulanic acid.
• Physical Format: The discs are made of high-quality filter paper, are 6 mm in diameter, and are printed with the symbol "AMC 30" on both sides for easy identification.
• Pack Size (5x50DS): This specific SKU contains 5 vials, with each vial containing 50 discs, for a total of 250 discs per pack.
• Testing Method: Designed for use with the Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method on Mueller Hinton Agar.
Performance & Interpretation
The discs are used to categorize bacteria as Sensitive (S), Intermediate (I), or Resistant (R) based on the diameter of the zone of inhibition. Standard CLSI interpretive criteria for Enterobacteriaceae are:
• Sensitive: ≥ 18 mm
• Intermediate: 14–17 mm
• Resistant: ≤ 13 mm.
