EMB HiVeg™ Agar is recommended for differential isolation of Gram-negative enteric bacilli from clinical and non-clinical specimens. Medium contains fermentable carbohydrates -Lactose and sucrose. Eosin-Y and methylene blue serve as differential indicators. The coliforms produce purplish black colonies due to uptake of methylene blue-eosin dye complex.
