HiEnviro-Sponge™ Stick Hydrated with 10ml Dey-Engley (D/E) Neutralizing Broth (Sterile)
Instead of a traditional cotton tip, this sampling device uses a specialized sponge head attached to a breakaway handle stick. EST003 is specifically designed for testing environmental surfaces that still contain residual sanitizers, antiseptics, or disinfectants.
When performing environmental surface sampling in food manufacturing, clinical environments, or cleanrooms, chemical residues left behind by cleaning agents can kill or inhibit bacteria after collection. This leads to false-negative laboratory results.
The 10ml of Dey-Engley Neutralizing Broth pre-loaded into the EST003 sponge completely counteracts a massive spectrum of chemical agents:
• Lecithin: Neutralises quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs).
• Polysorbate 80: Neutralises substituted phenolics.
• Sodium Thiosulphate: Neutralises iodine and chlorine preparations.
• Sodium Thioglycollate: Neutralises mercurial antiseptics.
• Sodium Bisulphite: Neutralises aldehydes (like formaldehyde and glutaraldehyde).
By neutralizing these chemicals instantly upon contact, any viable bacteria on the surface—such as Listeria, Salmonella, or E. coli—are preserved and can be successfully culture
