HiPer® Carbohydrates Estimation Teaching Kit (Quantitative) is for quantitative estimation of carbohydrates. In this kit, To measure the concentration of carbohydrates two most common methods are used e.i. DNSA method and Phenol sulphuric method.
This kit is used to determine the exact concentration of carbohydrates in a sample using spectrophotometric methods.
• Key Methods Included:
o DNSA (3, 5-Dinitrosalicylic Acid) Method: Detects reducing sugars by reducing DNSA to a reddish-brown complex (ANSA) in alkaline conditions, with peak absorbance at 540 nm.
o Phenol Sulphuric Acid Method: Used for total carbohydrate estimation. In hot acidic conditions, sugars dehydrate to form furfural derivatives that react with phenol to produce a yellow-brown color with peak absorbance at 490 nm.
